Concerned that your child will lose ground over the summer vacation or worried that your child has fallen behind in the essential academic subjects? PCEA’s Summer Scholars Program provides students with personal instruction to enhance their reading and writing skills. The program will allow your child to return to school in September more confidently, with enriched, stronger academic skills.
Reading instruction is based on the Orton Gillingham Multisensory Structured Literacy program and is designed to build critical skills for decoding vocabulary and comprehension. The research-based program Visualizing and Verbalizing will be used to increase reading comprehension. Writing instruction will use a variety of research-based approaches through which students will work on essay writing skills, including paragraph development and basic research.
Instruction will be provided by experienced, certified teachers trained in each approach used. Students will work in groups of no more than three, allowing for personalized, meaningful attention to their needs.
