Dyslexia Evaluation

This assessment focuses on the characteristics associated with dyslexia including the child’s decoding, encoding (spelling), writing, vocabulary, reading comprehension and reading fluency skills. The assessment will examine the child’s phonemic awareness skills and rapid naming skill as well.

This assessment will be administered by a certified Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant (LDTC). The LDTC will administer assessments such as:

  • The Woodcock Reading Mastery test
  • The Word Identification and Spelling Test (WIST)
  • Comprehensive Test of Phonological Processing, Second Edition (CTOPP-2)
  • The Test of Word Reading Efficiency (TOWRE)
  • Writing sample scales

The LDTC will also:

  • Interview with the child and parent
  • Interview other relevant people (with the consent of the client)
  • Review relevant records

This evaluation typically takes two sessions of approximately three hours to complete.
